Frequently asked questions about donating eggs in Madrid
How is egg donation treatment performed?
Who can be an egg donor in Madrid?
The requirements that an egg donor must meet are established by law. They must be of legal age and under 35 years of age to avoid genetic problems. Donors undergo a rigorous screening, also established by law.
First, an informative interview is conducted with the potential donor to explain the pre-screening process and the subsequent treatment required to be able to donate eggs.
During this visit, a detailed medical history of the donor and her family is completed. The donor’s personal and family history must be free of risk, and a normal physical examination and psychological evaluation are required.
If this interview reveals no reasons that would rule her out as a donor, a complete analytical study is performed, including all the tests required by law, ranging from a general blood test to tests for infectious diseases such as hepatitis B and C, HIV and syphilis, and genetic testing. In addition, the patient is evaluated using a psychological personality test.
Once the screening process is complete, and it is confirmed that the donor meets all the necessary requirements, the recipient is assigned, and the treatment process begins.
Egg donation in Madrid, and consequently in Spain, is anonymous. To match a couple with their donor, we look for the most similar physical characteristics possible, considering race, hair color and type, eye color, skin color, weight, height, blood type, and Rh.
What is shared egg donation?
A special type of donation is shared egg donation. In this case, the donor is a woman undergoing IVF and who decides to donate half of the eggs obtained to a recipient. This type of egg donation approach is very common in other neighboring countries, such as the United Kingdom.
In these cases, by undergoing egg donation treatment in Madrid, the conditions of anonymity and security required by law are also maintained. The objective of this type of donation is to reduce the cost of the process for both patients, so that the final price is significantly reduced for both.
